Parkview/Police Shooting

Minister Louis Farrakhan once said long ago, things far away would be at your doorstep. With the rash of shootings in Monroe LA, which has happened in big cities for years are now happening in small cities and towns at an alarming rate. Gun violence is reaching an epidemic with shootings happening every day and guns being fired at any given time day or night. According to police reports, Monroe Police officers responded to a shooting at Parkview Apartments in South Monroe. According to officers at the scene, a male victim was found at the complex with a gunshot wound to the back. A juvenile allegedly fired 10 shots at a vehicle. There were crowds of people including children during this act of violence. He was flown to Shreveport for treatment. There is no update on the condition of the victim at this time. During the investigation, a vehicle suspected of being involved in the shooting was spotted by officers, and a brief chase ensued. The suspect vehicle ran off the roadway during the chase near South 1st Street. Officers approaching the vehicle encountered gunfire and then exchanged gunfire with the suspects. After a brief foot chase, three suspects were apprehended and taken into custody. No suspects or officers were injured during the incident. Charges are pending further investigation. Two suspects fired at Monroe Police during a police chase Saturday October 17, which ended as the vehicle suspects were traveling crashed at Peach and South 1st Streets. Police arrested Suspect Russell E McFarland, lll 19 and a juvenile with attempted first-degree murder of a police officer, aggravated obstruction of a highway of commerce and illegal use of a weapon.
