Chief Robert rt Cherry City MCherry is a proud son from Monroe LA. He has been married to Patricia Cherry for over 38 years and has 4 adult children and 5 grandchildren. He is a graduate and supporter of Carroll High School, where his preparation and education helped him earn a full scholarship to Lane College, an HBCU in Tennessee. While earning his bachelor's degree in education at Lane, Chief Cherry played football and became a member of the Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. Never one to stop learning, he recently completed his master's degree in criminal justice from Grambling State University. In service and employment in Monroe, Chief Cherry taught and coached football at Ouachita Junior High, served in the Army Reserve for 22 years, and has been at the Monroe City Marshal's office for over 25 years. Throughout the years, his commitment to serve the community has been extensive – mentoring boys and young men through tough times, coaching community-organized football, helping senior citizens with yardwork, or simply being a needed presence at a local event. Whenever the community has needed Chief Robert Cherry, he has been there; and he will continue to be there for Monroe, in the future, as the next Monroe City Marshal.
