Moving Home

The road to glory has no appointed date or time. Sadly, former Monroe resident Donald Givens went home to be with the Lord on Friday September 8, 2020, according to a family friend. This year has been extremely hard on families with many unexpected deaths during this pandemic. Givens was a former teacher in the Monroe City Schools Sherrouse Alternative School where he taught social studies. He was also a retired LA State Trooper. He will be remembered as a great person, teacher, husband and family man who gave all he could who many admired. Givens was a mentor and friend to those he came into contact. Left to cherish memories are his wife Ozell Meeks Givens and his family. Funeral services were held September 18, 2020.
