No Struggle, No Progress

Celebrating A Major Milestone

Estella Stamper Smith and Lola Stamper Wooten are twins celebrating a milestone birthday this weekend. Their lives exemplify, the bonds of family and that by working together, life challenges can be conquered. Although they are quite different, they've managed to work together as sisters, as friends, and as a team for eighty years. One wears their hair long and the other one doesn't. One is straight to the point the other is more diplomatic. One is more outgoing the other is more laid back, but it works! They've cried and laughed together. They went to school and did homework together. They both had three children and raised them together. They were baptized into the Christian faith together at the age of ten in a pond in Grayson LA. They go to church together and have been active members at Cedar Grove Baptist Church in Grayson LA, New Daughters of Zion Baptist Church in West Monroe LA, Saint Joseph Baptist Church in West Monroe LA and at Philadelphia Word Church in Monroe, LA. They shop, eat and go to socials together. They like watching football together but they cheer for rival colleges (Grambling State University and Southern University) and professional (New Orleans Saints and Dallas Cowboys) football teams. Lately, they are even dressing alike. It's rare to see one of them without the other. They have been through it all.... TOGETHER. It's a TWIN thing! This weekend they're celebrating another great milestone.... NLT Psalm 91:16 "I will reward them with a long life and give them my salvation." We thank God for their many, many blessings over these eighty years and we are prayerful for their continued good health, mental acuity, zeal for life, their church family and for their good friends. May they continue to operate in God's provision. As their families grow in numbers, may they continue to guide them with wisdom, love and faith. May they have more fun times and laughter and live life to the fullest for many years to come! Due to COVID 19, celebrating their birthday will be different this year; over the computer... Nonetheless, we count it all JOY! Cheers to 80 years!!
