Danny Wilson Strong, Proud, Brave

January 27, 1954 – July 10, 2020 Danny Lester Wilson was born January 27, 1954 in Monroe, LA. He was the only son of Stacy Ralph and Juanita Long Wilson. Danny has three sisters, Jacquelyn Long Jones of Monroe, Stacie LaVonne Wilson Dickerson of Arlington, TX, and Prince Ella Wilson Brown of Lewisville, TX. Danny passed away on July 10, 2020 in Arlington, TX after complications from a fall. In life, Danny was a strong and brave fighter, and of all the challenges he faced, there was nothing that could take away his trademark smile and his faith in God. At an early age, Danny became a baptized believer at St. Paul United Methodist Church, where he sang in the church choir. He lived his life following the teachings of Jesus. Danny enjoyed his childhood with friends and cousins from his Lincoln Park neighborhood, church and around the city. He started school at Little Flower Academy and continued his primary and secondary education in the Ouachita Parish School system, attending Robinson Elementary and Richwood High Schools. Danny's proudest days was being a part of the Richwood High School marching band..."Rocking That Tuba". Danny graduated with the Class of '72. After graduating from high school Danny joined the United States Army. Danny Wilson received an Honorable Medical Discharge. His new young adult journey took him to Waterloo, IA, on the invitation of a cousin where he worked a short time. His next stop would be Oakland, CA, joining a host of family and friends who lived there. He served as a security guard for the Farm Workers Union. In 1981, he moved back to Monroe, LA, and worked as a supervisor for Monroe Bottling Company. Danny later joined with his dad as a distributor of the Monroe Free Press newspaper. Of course, Danny found love on several occasions. He was married twice. The last 10 years of his life, he resided in Arlington, TX, where he enjoyed being around his younger nieces, nephews and sisters. Danny was a member of the Koinonia Christian Church in Arlington, TX. Danny was preceded in death by his parents and one nephew, Derrick O. Brown. He leaves to cherish his memories, his three sisters: Jacquelyn Long Jones, Stacie Dickerson (Ray), Prince Ella Brown(Ron); one niece, Sterling Raye Wilson Dickerson and children, Zaire and Suede; four nephews: Reginald Wesley (Yolanda) and children: Courtney, Keadra, Reginald, Kyron, Paiyton; Michael Wesley and children: Kyla, Christopher, Jayden, and Mason; Marcus Brown (Nicole) and children: Sydney and Cameron; Derrick O. Brown's sons: Priest and Roman; Roddry Dickerson (Tai) and children: Sean, Jordan, and Jada; John Hendrix (a friend, like a brother) and a host of loving friends from Danny's Claremont Apartment community in Arlington, TX, Lincoln Park Subdivision, Richwood High School, and the Riverside Nursing Home. His memory will also be cherished by a special cousin, Erica Connors, and brother-like cousins, Roger Lewis and Al Long. Many other special cousins and friends will cherish memories of their beloved, Danny Lester Wilson. Danny left a positive imprint on this earth, especially through is smile.
