No Struggle, No Progress

Repentance and Faith

There are three things that are closely related to each other, they are repentance, faith and repentance and Faith generation. Repentance is a change of mode of thinking, a change of mind about sin, self and God. It is a turning point from self and sin to God. The message of John the Baptist - “Repent ye, for the kingdom of Heaven is at hand.” Our Lord gave the same message in Matthew 4; L7, Mark L: L25 and Luke t3:3. Repentance is directed toward God and faith is directed toward our Lord C new relationship to Him. The word conversion is used to apply to tire changes of life, principle from sin to faith. Repentance can never be stimulated by fear or regret. It must originate in a new understanding of God and a new relationship to Him. It is action on the new basis of faith (Paul Hessert). Faith is the central concept of Christianity. Faith is defined as the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen (Hebrews 11:1). It is the guarantee of things hoped for. The English word for faiths translated from the Greek word Pistil that signifies bust. Christian faith will not remain unexpressed and fruitless. According to James 2:17- if faith produces no life to back it up, it is not genuine faith.” The movement of God toward man is called “revelation” and the response of man is called “faith” Faith is life lived in obedience to God’s revelation to us. When we accept this fact, we put ourselves in a position to learn that we are responding in faith. Faith is the whole life response to God. It is a way to salvation. This involves a personal relationship with God.
