Myrtle Johnson Dedicated, Encouraged Respected

Mrs. Myrtle Ford Johnson 102, was born August 28, 1917. God called his faithful servant home on June 19, 2020. Mrs. Johnson was a native of Monroe LA , where she met and married the late Luther Johnson Sr. They enjoyed 22 years of marriage together having one son Luther Johnson Jr., one granddaughter Bridgett Johnson and one great granddaughter Samantha Morehead. Mrs. Johnson was a lifelong member of Mt. Nebo Baptist Church and attributed her longevity to trusting in the Lord for all things and eating healthy. Mrs.. Johnson was a retired teacher with 35 years of dedicated service and a member of the Louisiana Teachers Association. She received numerous awards for her tireless work as an educator. Mrs. Johnson graduated from Monroe Colored High School and proudly graduated from both Southern University and Grambling State University. She was employed in Red River Parish for 19 years as a home economics teacher and at A.L. Smith School in Sterlington LA for 16 years as a fifth and sixth grade elementary education instructor. Mrs. Johnson enjoyed life while encouraging others to continue to learn new things. She was blessed by her favorite scripture Deuteronomy 31:6 “ He will never leave you nor forsake you.” Funeral service are Saturday June 27, 2020, at 11 am at Miller Funeral Home in Monroe LA. Visitation is Friday June 26 from 2-6-m at Miller Funeral Home.
