P.E.E.P. Disaster Donation

P.E.E.P. Disaster Donation

Kenneth Wilson, City Councilman of District 4, along with PEEP Inc. will be donating $1000 to Ouachita Multi-Purpose Community Action Program (OMCAP). The funds donated will be applied to the utility bills of citizens who have had a loss of wages due to COVID-19 or who have had added expenses due to the April 12,2020 Tornado. OMCAP was chosen as the recipient of this donation because they are no stranger to helping citizens in the community who are in need of assistance and OMCAP already has a system in place for making sure that those in need are helped. The Ouachita Multi-Purpose Community Action Program (OMCAP), serves as an anti-poverty agency on behalf of Federal, State, and Local government, to provide assistance to citizens of Ouachita Parish, working with a network of Community Action Agencies (CAAs) and other neighborhood-based organizations to reduce poverty, revitalize communities and empower families and individuals to become economically stable. Kema Dawson, Executive Director of OMCAP says "The funds donated will help citizens that have been impacted and need assistance but may not qualify for the Federal Programs that OMCAP already has in place." Councilman Kenneth Wilson says, "It is very important to provide assistance to those citizens that have been impacted and I would like to personally CHALLENGE everyone who is willing and able, to match this donation. If you are unable to match this donation, please give whatever you are able to give. It is imperative that we continue to work together for the welfare of our community!" The donation will take place on Friday, June 19, 2020 at 4:00PM at the OMCAP office. OMCAP is located at 4001 Jackson St. Monroe, LA 71202. For more information you may contact the Executive Director, Kema Dawson @ 318.322.7151.
