No Struggle, No Progress
The Mu Tau Chapter of Omega Psi Phi recently awarded its 2020 Nash-Blue Scholarship recipients. (5) one-thousand-dollar scholarships were presented during a June 13th ceremony at the chapter's fraternity house located at 1800 Jackson Street in Monroe. Receiving the awards were: John Harris, Jr. (Richwood), Isaiah Hudson (Wossman), Malcolm Moore (West Monroe), Joshua Taylor (Ouachita), and Kendon Williams (Wossman). The Mu Tau chapter awards the scholarships annually to area male high school seniors based on G.P.A., A.C.T, extra-curricular activities and community involvement. The awards are named in honor of deceased educator, Herbert Nash and deceased judge, Darryl Blue. Both were members of the Mu Tau, a graduate chapter of Omega Psi Phi that has overseen fraternal activities in Northeast Louisiana since 1959. The chapter holds several fundraisers to raise money for these scholarships as well as its Talent Hunt and leadership training programs. These fundraisers include; but are not limited to: "Jazz on the Que Note", "Daddy-Daughter Dance", "Mother-Son Dance" and "Belle's & Beaus on the River". The chapter was recently named Ninth District Chapter of the Year for the 7th year in a row and Ninth District Social Action Chapter of the Year for the 8th year straight. Omega Psi Phi's Ninth District is composed of Arkansas, Louisiana, Oklahoma, and Texas.
