No Struggle, No Progress
June 18: Monroe Farmer’s Market
Official Summer 2020 Grand Opening
Your Monroe Farmer’s Market Summer Grand Opening will be 9:30 am Thursday, June 18, 2020. It is in the 1200 Block of Washington Street, directly across from J.S. Clark Elementary School.
One of the great things about our city, parish and region is the abundance of fresh locally grown fruits and vegetables. And, one of the best places to get locally grown produce is at the Monroe Farmer’s Market. The Monroe Farmer’s Market will be open from 6:00 am until 12 noon Monday through Saturday, now through the month of August. All the produce sold at our Farmer’s Market is locally grown. So, let’s support these NELA small business owners.
Many of us were raised during a time in which families grew some of their own food. We tilled the ground, planted seeds, watered, and cared for our crops until harvest time. There is absolutely nothing like eating some fresh food that came out of your own garden.
Most young people do not realize the level of hard work it takes to produce the food they enjoy each day. Put on your masks and bring your kids and grandkids to the Monroe Farmer’s Market. Make it an educational trip. Let them meet some of our local farmers and learn more about their labor of love. Then buy a bunch of fruit and vegetables and enjoy them together at home!
Don’t forget that Early Voting begins June 20 through July 4 (except for Sundays). If you are not registered to vote, then do so now. The deadline is June 20th for you to use the Geaux Vote app or visit the Louisiana Secretary of State website to register to vote for the July 11th Presidential and Municipal Primary Elections. Early voting in Ouachita Parish is at the Ouachita Parish Registrar of Voters office, located at 1650 Desiard Street (same building at Ouachita Parish Health Unit). Given the times our nation is facing, experience, leadership, and proven performance matters. By working together, we are making a difference. Monroe is one city, with one future!
