Alfonso Brown's Death, in Police Custody

Alfonso Brown died June 17, 2019, while handcuffed in police custody at the Pecanland Mall in Monroe LA. The officer on mall duty, Sergeant Albert Paxton, was the officer who arrested Alfonso Brown for alleged shoplifting. Brown was tased and immediately suffered from a medical emergency. Brown died at the age of 36, handcuffed. Sergeant Paxton, who was also a full-time Monroe Police Department employee at the time of the incident, worked at Dillard's at Pecanland Mall. The circumstances surrounding Brown's death are still unclear because of how the case was handled. Sergeant Paxton filed his incident report 14 days after Alfonso died.
