No Struggle, No Progress
When Jacques D. Lowery was arrested on a multitude of charges several weeks ago, it hopefully will mark the end of a campaign of violence against Monroe resident Shardra Green and her family. Lowery allegedly was in a relationship with Green's daughter that started out like many relationships, but it soon turned violent. According to Green, at first glance, Lowery seemed like an "ok" guy, but when her daughter showed signs of domestic abuse, the mother instantly knew that something was wrong. Things came full circle when on/around May 18, when Lowery allegedly abused his girlfriend, which had happened several times before. When police arrived, Lowery ran away, but law enforcement officers searched for him, and he was soon taken into custody on May 23, according to family members. The charges that Lowery faces are attempted second degree murder, domestic abuse, aggravated assault, child endangerment, home invasion, domestic abuse battery, and illegal weapons carry. These charges stem from a history of violent acts, as Lowery allegedly has been jailed for some of these charges. But an incident that happened March 25 put the lives of Green and those of her family in danger. By the Grace of God didn't turn out tragic.
Lowery was outside of the Green's home on that day, as she saw him standing next to an automobile. She told him to leave, and Lowery allegedly said that he "wasn't going anywhere". Green was looking out her door at the time and was about to close it when Lowery allegedly started shooting rapidly. According to Green, at least a dozen shots hit her house, breaking some glass. Her mother and grandchildren were also present at the time of the shooting, but none of them were injured. Lowery eluded capture after that incident and did not return. But Lowery would soon be arrested for what he had done. The relationship that Lowery had with Green's daughter had been going on since 2017, but the domestic violence would soon start after they started dating. There were previous acts of violence against her daughter, as Lowery allegedly attacked her, took her vehicle from her apartment where she lived. In another incident, Lowery allegedly broke the windshield on her vehicle and her cell phone, but he again eluded arrest.
According to Green, Lowery is alleged to have posted on Facebook some of the acts he did and even bragged about them. Now Lowery is behind bars where if the charges stand, he will be behind those bars for a long time. Green is content with how things are now, as she had cameras installed on her home, and says she "feels more secure" with them. She said that her daughter "is doing great" thankful that her daughter came through her ordeal safely.
