No Struggle, No Progress
I have so much love and admiration for my mom. The older I get, the more I see our similarities, and it makes me grateful that I have her to call mom. I, too, sometimes chuckle reminiscing on scenarios and things that shaped our unique mother/daughter relationship.
I have always admired my mom's beauty. When I was a little girl, I relished watching her get dressed for fancy events and parties that she and my dad would attend. I would sit on her vanity chair as she got dressed, then move to the floor when it was time for her to put on her Fashion Fair lipstick. She would ask for my opinion on what shoes and accessories to wear, a tradition we continue even now.
Last year, my mom, dad, and I celebrated my mom's birthday in Miami. Miami is one of my favorite places to visit, and I was so excited to share it with two of my favorite people. On our beach day, my mom emerged from her suite wearing a cute cover-up when she came down to met my dad and I. We were about an hour into our beach day when my mom proceeded to take off her cover-up, "to get more glow". She revealed this gorgeous blue strappy swimsuit with the most supreme confidence and beauty I'd ever seen. I was left so speechless; I could only smile thinking, this is MY mom!
Her beauty and confidence could never compare to her Godly demeanor or kind spirit. I love her, and this Sunday, on Mother's Day, I will have yet another moment to celebrate her in the most special way I can.
Mom, I love you. This year I thank you for showing and teaching me that true beauty and elegance come from having a good heart.
I extend a special prayer for all those whose mothers have passed away. I pray for your peace and comfort during this time.
A happy and blessed Mother's Day to all moms!
