No Struggle, No Progress

Finally, Has Come!

After experiencing multiple obstacles in attempting to reach this goal, Monroe's own Mr. Victor Butler is now Dr. Victor Butler. He will be conferred the Doctorate of Education in a formal graduation in August of this year, unless the coronavirus speaks otherwise. A product of Monroe, he was educated in the Ouachita Parish School System, starting at Swayze Elementary and graduating from Richwood High School. He furthered his educational pursuit at Grambling State University, obtaining the Bachelor and Masters degrees in elementary education and School Counseling degrees. He continued the educational journey at the Louisiana Tech University, Ruston, LA; University of Louisiana at Monroe, Howard University, Washington, DC; and finally attaining the Ed.D degree from Gwynned Mercy University, Gwynned Valley, PA. A love for children, he became an educator in the Monroe, LA area for several years. He then relocated to the Washington DC area where he taught and counseled students for the last 16 years. While seasoned in the field, this accomplishment was more of a gratification of accomplishment more than anything. one of Dr. Butler's dissertation committee members was another Monroe native, a Richwood High School graduate, a Grambling State University graduate, and his Alpha Phi Alpha fraternity brother, Dr. Murray "Ab" Fortner, who now resides in Arlington, TX. If opportunity continues to knock, however, he will welcome the challenge. His mother. Mrs. Johnnie Butler and the Jefferson family are all doting with Victor and give God the glory for the things He's done. The Monroe Dispatch congratulates, Dr. Butler
