No Struggle, No Progress

The Uniqueness of Man

Man has a choice of being godly or ungodly (those who do not know God). Man also has a choice of being unrighteous (those who know God but do not obey God). These two types of man experience the wrath of God. Why is a man a man? The answer to this question is: because man has freedom in Polar interdependence with destiny. (Polar means resembling a pole or axis around which all else revolves). Man is a trinity, that is, he has a body, soul, and a spirit. This makes man different from other organisms. Only man was created like God, that is, man has a body and a soul. Plants have only a body. It was in God’s spiritual image that Adam was created, and not in His physical image. This is why we say Man is the image of God. Man is different from other animals because of his openness to the world. He is a self-conscious animal; one for whom the examined life is not worth living according to Socrates. According to Tennyson man is the master of his fate. According to Hebrew 2:9 - Man was made a little lower than the angels. Man is learning how to master everything except himself. Man makes idols and carry them but God make men and carry them (G.C. Morgan). All men with a few exceptions, believe in the existence of a Supreme Being. Until a man finds God he will begin at no beginning and will never be the master of his fate.
