No Struggle, No Progress

For the Good Times

One of the most remarkable blessings was bestowed upon my life when I, surprisingly, viewed my photograph, followed by "Happy Birthday" greetings in your August 1st edition of the Monroe Dispatch. Although the date of my birthday is in February, rather than July 29th, it was good to know that I was on your mind and heart...probably because July 29th is actually the birthdate of one of my children (smile). Believe it or not, although it was not my birthday, with the highest regard and gratitude for the consideration, I happily relished in the moment with a smile and a new strut! This incident also provides me an overdue opportunity to thank you for doing an exceptional job as you carry on your family's tradition. Your tradition is reflected in the motto of Leland college, my alma mater-"Non Nobis, Sed Aliis [Not for Ourselves But for Others)". only posterity will reveal the true impact that the Monroe Dispatch has had (and will continue to have) on Northeast Louisiana and beyond. May God continue to bless you, your family and all of your future endeavors. With Love and best wishes, Johnnie Glover Rodgers
