Louisiana Governor John Bel Edwards visits Monroe

Louisiana Governor John Bel Edwards visited Monroe on Monday, April 13, 2020, hosting a press conference at the Monroe Safety Center. During the press conference Gov. Edwards discussed the challenges of dealing with a natural disaster along with COVID-19. Gov. Edwards praised the area's emergency servicemen like police, firefighters, EMT, and healthcare professionals for their work thus far. "We are moving as quickly as we can, because we understand challenges that this presents to everyone." said Gov. Edwards. He mentioned that Louisiana is considered a hotspot, so the state's administration is taking a wait and see approach when it comes to opening businesses again.
