WHEN IS THE BEST TIME TO DIE?

Now, this is a strange topic because almost nobody wants to think about dying, not to mention the BEST time to die. However, during this COVID-19 period, at some point and time the thought crosses our minds. We all agree that people die when their time on earth comes to an end. Let’s explore some concepts on the BEST time to die.

Using a major Biblical reference, Ecclesiastes 3, as it tells us, “There is a time for virtually everything… “ To everything there is a season, and a time for every purpose under heaven: A time to be born and a time to die… certainly, the message of this scripture is that as surely as we live, we will surely die when the time comes. Of course, that time varies from person to person.

Often, we hear people say in reference to one’s death, “He dies too soon, or She lasts past her years”. When we think of the infant, who lost his life due to the coronavirus when he was less than six weeks old, we are saddened and think he lost his life too soon or he never had a chance to taste of his life. When we hear of an elderly person dying in his 90’s, we are also saddened, but we say things like

“He really did hang in there” or “He lived a good long life”. Whether we admit it or not, the Time for dying had come for both the infant and the elder.

The average person says that it is a Good Time to Die when one reaches around 70 to 75 years of age, considering we are given three scores and ten years, which translates to 70 years. This may be considered a good time to die until WE reach that threshold in age. If we are in fairly good health, we certainly do not consider this is the best time to die.

There is always the consideration of not just WHEN one dies, but also HOW one dies. If death is caused by an accident, it is thought to be untimely. If death is caused by suicide, the question becomes, was it really time for this person to die?

Apparently, it was that person’s time to die.

Considering this COVID-19 plague, which is all over the world, thousands of people are dying every day. Many will question whether this is the best time to die. No matter the circumstances, the time of the deceased had come. We will wonder when it was the best time to die.

The Best time to die is, ideally, when a person has all of his affairs in order, when he is at peace with everyone and feels reconciled within himself that he has done all that he can in humanity, having no animosity, it is his Best time to die.

Lest we forget, no matter what the day or the hour, when death knocks at the door, it is the BEST time to die. It pays to be and stay ready... which is much easier said than done.
