No Struggle, No Progress
The Monroe area is mourning the death of Mrs. Ollie Little Riley, a beloved teacher and community leader who passed away on March 29, 2020, in Monroe, LA. Mrs. Ollie Little Riley 101, was born on October 22, 1918, to the late Malinda Brown and Early Little in Alto, LA. She was baptized at an early age at Morning Star Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend Ivory Jacobs.
She grew up and was educated in Oak Ridge, LA. She later moved to Ouachita Parish by way of Morehouse Parish in 1939. She met and married Jordan Riley. The two did not have any children of their own but cared for her cousin, Bettie Cummings McFarland, who preceded her in death, along with a Godchild, Mrs. Remona Williams Goldsby.
Mrs. Riley was a Christian woman who believed in the Lord Jesus Christ as her savior. She was a member of Antioch Baptist Church where she sang in the choir. She was presently a member of Tried Stone Baptist Church, where she was very active as a member of the choir and mission teacher until her health began to fail.
She leaves to cherish her precious moments, her Goddaughter, Remona Williams Goldsby; her loving adopted daughters, Zettie Broadway, Carrie Cann, Hannah Morehead, Earnestine Henderson, and Dr. Ollibeth Reddix - all of Monroe, LA; as well as a host of cousins, other family members, friends, and her Tried Stone Baptist Church family.
Her graveside home going service was held Thursday, April 2, 2020 at Magnolia Cemetery in Monroe, LA.
