No Struggle, No Progress
"The steps of a good man are ordered by God." A man's history is more than a story of the past. It is a story of individual achievements over a period of time and how these achievements brought credit and pride to the future.
February is Black History Month. It is an annual celebration of achievements by African Americans. This month is memorable as I reflect an African-American Community Trailblazer who has made positive contributions in the city of Monroe.
This famous Black American is best described as the most unusual, kind, loving, patient, understanding, husband, visionary, missionary, leader, role model, friend and community trailblazer. He is an ideal example of a "True Christian. The list goes on and on.
The honoree is very faithful in carrying out his Christian duties at New Light Baptist Church. He is a dedicated missionary. The trailblazer rises up and carries out the Great Commission, Matthew 28:19-20, which states Go ye therefore. He goes out in the community, city, and highways visiting the sick, feeding the hungry, clothing the homeless, giving donations to less fortunate, and constantly praying for the nation, state and city.
I pause to salute, Mr. William Smart, the first Black Executive Director of Housing Authority. He worked 27 years at Brookshire. You are being commended for attaining such a prestigious achievement. May God continue to bless you richly with all the spiritual blessings!
