No Struggle, No Progress
Dr. Tahir Qayyum has been practicing medicine in the Monroe community for over 20 years. In 2019 he was announced as the 2019-2020 President of the Louisiana Academy of Family Physicians (LAFP) during an annual awards luncheon held in New Orleans, Louisiana. Dr. Qayyum attended medical school at Army Medical College in Rawalpindi, Pakistan. He went on to complete an internship at Columbia Presbyterian College in New York and completed a residency at LSU Family Medicine Residency-Monroe, in Monroe, Louisiana. Dr. Quayyum is passionate about family medicine because it gives him an opportunity to practice medicine for the entire family instead of one organ or disease as a time. In his private practice, he provides medical care to about 5000 patients between two locations in Bastrop and Monroe. In addition to practicing medicine privately, he is also involved in training family medicine residents and medical students from both LSU and Tulane. In addition to his private practice and training medical students, he also serves on many boards and advisory committees. Not only does his practice medicine, but his wife also serves as a registered nurse, and both his children are following them in the medical field. Dr. Qayyum's patients sing his praises for his patience, professionalism and his attention to their needs.
