No Struggle, No Progress
Coach Smith District 4, Monroe City Council
I am a Monroe LA, Ouachita Parish native. I have lived in district 4 for over 35 years. I have been an advocate for the improvement of the Southside for many years. I am currently retired however; I have worked as an educator and coach in the Monroe City School System for 30 plus years. I have also worked in the City of Monroe Recreation Department with a variety of youth programs. I believe my work experience combined with years of community involvement can serve as a great asset to District 4 Monroe city council. I know firsthand of the many issues and concerns we face on the Southside of Monroe and overall city. Some of the initiatives I am currently working on: Education: working with school board members, leaders, and other organizations to come up with a plan to primary address the early childhood and pre-school problem in the Southside schools, etc. Safety: Front line with NAACP, leaders and organizations to address issues and concerns with Southside violence, etc. Infrastructure: Out front on issues with sewage and drainage problems, by participating in community meeting, discussions and ideas that offer solutions to the problems we face, etc. Revitalization: I am looking forward to working with the Southside housing project effort to improve Southside communities, etc. I want to thank Councilman Kenny Wilson, for his years of service. Thank you for making yourself available to your constituents even if it was just a phone call away. Your hard work and service will always be appreciated. I also look forward to working with the Mayor and council members to improve our entire city. "Hope for a better future" VOTE #207 Coach Jesse Smith, Monroe City Council District 4.
