No Struggle, No Progress
On Saturday, January 26, 2020, "The Po' Folk's Poet", Mr. Marion Obafemi celebrated his 10th year anniversary as a playwright, producer and director at Benoit Community Center in Monroe LA. The event was a reunion for all his former cast members and their families from Lake Providence, Tallulah, Bastrop and Monroe LA. Mr. Obafemi expressed his gratitude to those who have contributed to the success of his stage play productions over the past 10 years. It was a time to reminisce about old times, meet and greet cast members from other places that have played the same roles at different venues and plan for upcoming productions while enjoying some tasty food prepared by Aunt T's Good Eats & Sweet Treats. In attendance from Lake Providence were Mary Nichols, Tuscaney Carraway Malone, Anthony Pearson, Trekeemia Peeler, Trevantis Carraway Jackson, Malaysia Carraway and Mrs. Virginia Nichols. From Tallulah were: Karl Thomas and Mr. & Mrs. Hardy Silas. From Bastrop were Bundy Whaley, Linda Logan and Malaki Mayes. From Monroe were: Doneshia Terry, Dorothy Washington, Shakeya Bennett, Tierance Land and King Tierance Land. Each cast member was recognized for their support and received a certificate of appreciation for their efforts to help Mr. Obafemi fulfill his mission to tell our stories from a positive perspective by presenting God inspired stage play productions.
