No Struggle, No Progress
The road to glory has no appointed time or date. One of the best has made his way to king's row. Albert Lewis Crayton fondly known as "Dad," "Pops," "Cuz," and "Uncle Pops" by close friends and family was called upon for the next leg of his journey to a place that been prepared for him by our Lord and Savior on Monday, January 13, 2020 at his home in Lancaster, Texas. Albert was the first male child born to the union of Virgus and Johnnie Crayton on January 5, 1950.Albert was a graduate of Little Flower Academy where he served as an altar boy but was better known for his skills on the basketball court. On the basketball court, he was the enforcer on defense and one of the top rebounders. Compared to other players, he was short in statue, yet he had a 7-foot heart which made him a rebounding giant. During a Carroll/ Little Flower Basketball Game on a New Year's Eve Night in the 1960's, Albert was a shining star leading Little Flower to victory over Carroll which had been was a daunting task. Upon graduation, he enlisted in the United States Airforce where he served 14 years and retired. He was a Viet Nam Veteran. His retirement began in Albuquerque New Mexico and returned to Monroe to work in the Monroe City Schools' System at Carver Elementary School in Monroe LA for two years before moving to Dallas Texas. He found happiness working in Irvin Independent School District where he was admired, loved and known for his no nonsense by the rule's security. Albert is survived by four beautiful daughters, DeBreda Crayton, Maria Crayton, Ayesha Hodges, Shumara Bailey, 12 grandchildren 9 great grands, sisters Mary Crayton, Emma (Londie) Crayton Boutte, brother Johnny(Ricky) Crayton, a host of nieces, nephews and cousins he loved dearly. Visitation is Friday January 17 from 6-8pm at Richardson Funeral Home Monroe LA. Funeral services are Saturday January 18, 2020, at 11am at Little Flower Catholic Church Monroe LA.
