No Struggle, No Progress
A recent social media post made by a Neville High School student has had a hurtful impact on Blacks, and has exposed how some non-Blacks feel. The post "when you are the only one with money, so the nigg-s have to watch you eat your food like old times." made by a young non-Black male, has triggered many emotions and conversations about race relations in our area. Racism is a learned behavior that is passed on from generation to generation. Hatred is a choice with consequences that sometimes become problems. The true problem is when people knowingly and unknowingly harbor those negative feelings toward others. Blacks seem to always face the inferiority complex by others now disguised in unidentifiable ways. This isn't new, but many of us hoped that our world would be much more evolved and our children would not be exposed to such things. While we continue to remain hopeful that things can and will change, we hope the younger generations recognize that we still live in a separate and unequal world. No one loves you as much as you do, to thine own self be true!
