Daisy Bell Haynes Jackson was born on June 18, 1933 in Alto, LA, the second of four children, to the late Ed and Calline Haynes. After graduating from Alto High School in Richland Parish in 1952, she matriculated to her beloved Grambling State University, where she received her Bachelor of Science degree in 1956. She was a proud graduate of Grambling, often caught singing the Grambling alma mater as she traveled through the city along the highway, even into her 80's.
