On Friday, May 5, 2023 at the Kingsway Apartments in Monroe, LA, residents were al- allegedly scared to death by an eruption of gunfire without any warning around NOON. Shots ranged out for an indefinite period of time. Sources say there was so much gunfire at this time of day, which was scary and unbelievable, especially with a school, Roy Shelling Elementary School, directly across the street. • Shooting 2 Dead

    Eddie D. Gillis|May 11, 2023

Disclaimer: All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty. The scenario is all too similar as Black-on-Black crime escalates among our youth, like another form of disguised slavery. Families are suffering as more senseless deaths plague our community with no end in sight; only God knows how and what can be done to save us from such unfortunate heartache. It was a violent start to the weekend in the Morehouse Parish area, as another shooting claimed the lives of two individuals. The...

The Monroe Dispatch spoke with the owners, who said that the sudden change from 3:30 AM to 2:00 AM is severely hurting their businesses, as they have experienced steep declines in profits, where they have had to cut back on the number of employees that work in their establishments. • The End Is Near

    May 11, 2023

Battle for the home (house) Officers in the Israelite army were commanded to allow a man to return home if he had built a new house and had not dedicated it. Lest he died in battle and someone else dedicated it (Deuteronomy 20:5). God is concerned about the house (home). The deterioration of the home in America and the world has touched every aspect of our life. The home is where lives are nourished, protected, and made safe. Having children out of wedlock by multiple women, not there to protect, provide for them, and train them according to...

  • Clock Ticking

    Eddie D. Gillis|May 11, 2023

When will it happen again? The clock is ticking. The grief experienced by a Houston area family stemming from five of their loved ones being killed by the next-door neighbor has to be overbearing after hearing about the latest Texas mass shooting in the Dallas area. The latest mass shooting in Allen, TX, again underscores that the nation must somehow come together and do something constructive regulating guns. Some will say that this is “a Second Amendment” issue, while others can rightfully say that this is a “right to live” issue. Eight p...

  • Grateful Hearts

    Katima Epting-Wiley|May 11, 2023

1 Thessalonians 5:18 In everything give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you. When you think of gratefulness, it should be very often; honestly, everyday. Thankful hearts are joyous ones. With all that’s going on in the world today, there shouldn’t be a time that we forsake giving God thanks. It’s such a blessing to still be alive, thankful! (enough) and in our sound minds. Many have left can, and they can no longer give thanks. It’s been hard; so, it’s understan...

It tells us that now is not the time for politicians to try to extract double-digit cuts to education funding, nor is it the time to limit what students learn in U.S. history and civics cla...
